5 Star, Anthony Thompson, closing in on Commitment

by | Sep 17, 2025

Anthony Thompson, the number 13 player in ESPN’s Class of 2026 rankings, is nearing a commitment, he tells The Hoop Herald.

Thompson, a 5 star recruit who plays High School Basketball at Western Reserve Academy (OH), has been recruited by almost everyone in the country, and he says “I’m hoping to commit before the school season starts, so hopefully October or November”.

During the AAU Season, he played for Indiana Elite on the Adidas 3SSB Circuit and was an absolute stat stuffer averaging 22PPG on almost 40% from 3. He has the length and versatility that will put him on draft board watch lists, and at 6’8 without shoes on, he has the prototypical NBA Big Wing Size as well. Although not currently in the Top 10, don’t be surprised if he ends up with a higher ceiling in the long term being one of the younger guys for his class.

Thompson told The Hoop Herald “Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio State, Texas, Indiana, North Carolina, and Purdue…I have narrowed it to those 7 schools”. Sources close to the situation say that he had a tremendous time on his recent visits to Indiana and Michigan and he loved the atmosphere at both schools.

When asked what he is looking for in a program he told us “A school where I can develop the most and where I can contribute at a high level offensively and defensively and the coaching staff’s relationship with me and my family.”

Whoever ends up landing this stud is getting a tremendous player but an even better person who will raise the level of play of everyone around him.
