Draymond Green Reveals He’d Become “PJ Tucker” if LeBron James Joins Warriors

by | Jul 23, 2026

Former Los Angeles Lakers forward LeBron James’ name has been linked to the Golden State Warriors after announcing he won’t return to Los Angeles for his ninth season.  If James decides to join the Warriors, he will have to fit into a system that features Steph Curry and Draymond Green.

During a recent episode of The Draymond Green Show, Green spoke about James’ potential role with the Warriors. Green shared that their offense would run through James.

"I'd become PJ Tucker. Greatest corner 3pt shooter ever," said Green.

"Number one, the people that start coming out of the woodworks like, 'PJ Tucker, great three-pointer shooter?' You better go check PJ Tucker's scoring... won't be tolerating any PJ Tucker corner three-pointer shooting disrespect here."

Green would go on to break down the on-court offensive sets that would involve Curry, James, and himself.

"I'll always have the ability to go get in the pick-and-roll and make some plays, but if you've got LeBron James and Steph Curry in a pick-and-roll... you'd better go find a role. You'd better go find a spot so you can be valuable," Green said.

"If those two guys are in pick-and-roll, for me, the most valuable spot's going to be, for me, is to be in the corner... I know what spot would be open is the corner. So you go to the corner, and you knock them down."

Green’s comments come just after he averaged 32.6 percent from behind the arc last season in 68 games. Green also averaged 4.6 threes per game.

Steph Curry also recently spoke about James potentially joining him in the Bay Area.

"Up until probably two, three years ago, that was like a pipe-dream question or even a thought," Curry said. "But that's part of the allure. Him going into his 24th season, me going into my 18th, the battles we've had, that would be such a unique story in NBA history, in sports history. But a little premature right now to talk about it."

When asked what his pitch to James is, he said Do you want to play good basketball and be around people who know how to play the game?

"The pitch is: Do you want to play good basketball and be around people that know how to play the game?" Curry said. "Hopefully raise our floor and our competitiveness this year. There's good golf in the Bay. We're an organization that's been there. He knows that. That's really self-explanatory. It's a matter of where he sees himself fitting. At the end of the day, that's up to him."

Green also weighed in on Adam Silver’s comment from last week, stating that he would prefer James make his decision soon because it is affecting the NBA scheduling process.

"Adam saying that is not going to speed up LeBron's decision at all," Green said. "If I know LeBron well, if anything, it might slow his decision down a little more because that's just how Bron is."

James did say it was crazy that the league was waiting on his decision. Which makes sense, if you think about it, because he is a marquee name and draws a national audience.

We will just have to wait for James to let the world know where he will play next.
